Dear FLX commUn!ty,
Allauna Overstreet-Gibson and Brianna Johnson-Whitfield here, and we are the founders of FLX Unity Center Inc.
FLX Unity Center is a start-up non-profit organization aiming to serve as the bedrock for a recreation system, starting here in Geneva, based on racial and social equity, with open doors for all, and free or low-cost community-centric programs. By inspiring creativity, critical thinking, and cultural awareness FLX Unity Center will provide the link for underserved and vulnerable individuals in our community to build valuable relationships, and bridge cultures and generations in a safe environment. Inequities exist throughout Geneva, but especially where it involves people of color, Veterans, teens/young adults, LGTBQ+, women, senior citizens, and/or those possessing limited resources.
While we’ve made progress, FLX Unity Center has much work to be done. As you may or may not know, we are starting from scratch. Two Geneva native, African American women, building a team with the passion and drive to be the change we wish to see in the world and we need your support.
If you have any questions, we are happy to provide you with more information about how you can help support our work.
We greatly appreciate your donation, which we’ll use towards the following...
-Form 1023 Application for Recognition of Exemption Under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
-Fundraising Events
-Marketing and advertising
-Securing FLX Unity Center Dream Location.
Please join us! Your donation will bring us one step closer to combating inequities that exist throughout Geneva for people of color, Veterans, teens/young adults, LGTBQ+, women, senior citizens, and/or those possessing limited resources.
Much love,
FLX Unity Center Team
