Mutual Aid Fund | Support for Community Initiatives

The MtF Mutual Aid Fund was built from the ground up in 2022 by the TRAPs collective and aims to directly support trans women and transfeminized people who express urgent financial needs. Two programs currently exist: 1) direct aid and 2) support for community initiatives.

  1. Direct Aid is our main program and currently consists of four (4) rounds of submissions per year and typically awards between $200 and $500 to 6 to 10 people in each round. It provides financial support to transfeminized people who are often in extremely precarious situations (homelessness, no income, debt, domestic violence, mental health issues, disabilities, etc.). The allocation criteria and the submission form  can be found here.

  2. Support for Community Initiatives is a new program created from the funds shared between mutual aid and TRAP organizations based on their specific needs. It's a fund dedicated to supporting individuals and collectives starting projects in their communities. The first $5,000 has been reserved for Indigenous and racialized communities. It is to be though of as the financial arm of our transfeminist call to action. The first round is expected in 2025.

MtF is commited to awarding all donations as financial aid; none of these funds will be used of the organization's operating expenses. The successful operation of these programs is largely due to recurring donations from transfeminine individuals.
