The Yorkton and District Community Foundation (YDCF) General Community Fund is the principal fund of the foundation. Any donation that is not directed to a specific existing fund, is applied to the General Community Fund automatically. 

New donors that are wishing to establish a Named Fund, or a Field of Interest Fund are encouraged to donate to the General Community Fund, and make contact with our Donor Advisers to alert them to that interest. 

The YDCF General Community Fund is an Endowment based fund where generous donor contributions are held & Invested by YDCF to create an enduring, growing capital pool that provides Grants to address community need year over year!  As the fund grows, so does the annual grants the fund provides. The General Community fund pays out at minimum 3.5% per year in the form of grants. Funds from the YDCF General Community Fund may also be awarded in addition to grants issued from other YDCF Funds.

The General Community Fund grants out to ALL area's of community need. The area's of community need that the General Community Fund can be directed to include (but not limited to):

• Mental* & Physical Health 
• Sports* & Recreation
• Literacy, Education & Employment Readiness*
• Children, Youth, Seniors & Family*
• Art, Music, Culture & Heritage
• Environment & Animal Well Being

* YDCF has named funds that are directing grants to these specific fields of community need.

Annual grants may be applied for by any registered charity or CRA registered Qualified Donee, by applying though the Yorkton and District Community Foundations Grants Portal.  Grants are awarded once per year.
