The new CAQ regulations imposed in 2019 tamper with the right of parents to educate their children in the method they prefer. The Ministry of Education rigidly imposes the ministerial program and exams, without taking into account the educational project of families and the particular needs of children. The Association Québécoise pour l'Éducation à Domicile (AQED) would like to see these exams remain optional and is concerned about the impact that this requirement could have on homeschooled children.
Despite AQED's many efforts to engage the Minister, he has remained silent and has refused to intervene. AQED has therefore been forced to file a request for a safeguard order in Superior Court to avoid imminent negative impacts on homeschooling families.
