A Walk in Their Shoes is a fundraiser for Mothers with a Heart for Ethiopia. The funds raised will support women and children living in extreme poverty in Ethiopia. The difference our donations can make in Ethiopia is absolutely profound. Women suffering from a prolapsed uterus will receive life-changing surgery. Girls who might otherwise go without adequate nutrition will receive a hot lunch at school. Girls who would miss school during menstruation because they have no sanitary products will remain in school, be educated and avoid early marriage. Children who are living at Tesfa's Shelter will receive food, shelter, clothing, an education, medical care and most importantly a sense of family and love.

We cannot change the world but when we respond to the needs in Ethiopia through participating in or donating to A Walk in Their Shoes, we can change the world for one person or a few women and children.  

Mothers with a Heart for Ethiopia is a not-for-profit organization and is volunteer driven. We do not have any staff, we do not pay any rent for an office or storage and we keep our costs to a minimum. This approach to our work allows Mothers with a Heart for Ethiopia to direct the vast majority of money raised and donated to the projects we fund in Ethiopia.  Since the beginning of our organization in 2011, we have sent over one million dollars to Ethiopia!

What is A Walk in Their Shoes?

It is a fun event for all ages and there is no distance requirement in fact, if a participant is not able to walk, there are other activities at the event that will keep them engaged and will honor their participation. Pictures and stories along the walking route will educate walkers about realities in Ethiopia and how the funds they have raised will make a big difference in the lives of women and children. If the weather cooperates, a portion of the Walk will take place outside, starting at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church in Woodstock and if it is raining, the walk will be indoors in the church. There will be a short walking route and a longer walking route. If walkers wish to walk longer, they can walk any portion of the route twice. The walk will be no longer than 60 minutes. Registration, kick-off, light refreshments, an Ethiopian Merkato (marketplace), a "Discover Ethiopia" contest, silent auction, Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony and the closing ceremonies will all take place inside at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church.
