Working Class with Janyce Michellod - Sept 18/20/**22

Event closed

Class Description:

“Those who hear and listen,” is the meaning of the word “lastalaïca” in the language of the elves. It is also the name Janyce Michellod gave to the unique methodology she developed to engage in improvisation and instant composition.

The class begins with a physical, and ongoing warm-up allowing to refine coordination, grow endurance and develop strength and control. Later, the class offers the frame to research and explore a higher complexity in dance. It shares concrete tools to improve and find a greater freedom of movement. Each class investigates a specific focus of work (such articular connections, speed, agility, etc.) while exploring various topics such rhythm, musicality, biomechanics, amongst others.

Here, you’ll increase your virtuosity, expand your physical capabilities and enhance your creativity. With Lastalaïca’s strategies, discover how your habits can be transformed into strengths and limitations into assets.

Presented in partnership with the Consulate General of Switzerland in Vancouver.

Teacher Description:

Janyce Michellod (1983) is a dancer, performer, teacher and herbalist. She trained as a professional ballet dancer and has a bachelor’s degree in performing arts (Zürcher Hochschule der Künste and Codarts Rotterdam).
