Schizophrenia Society - Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) course

2002 Airport Dr, Saskatoon, SK S7L 6M4, Canada

The Schizophrenia Society of Saskatchewan is hosting an iteration of Living Work's ASIST course for free to the public of Saskatoon. We are asking for $20 to hold your seat for the course, these funds will go toward snacks and beverages over the duration of the 2 days of the course. The course will take place August 24 and 25 from 8:30 AM - 5 PM (please ignore the time listed under date and time as it cant be adjusted). PARTICIPANTS MUST BE AT LEAST 16 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.

Over the course of 2 days, you will learn the skills to provide guidance and suicide first-aid intervention, work with someone to develop a personalized suicide safety plan to keep safe-for-now and the actions required to implement it, and connect with further help. The ASIST course is a in-person skills-based workshop. You will dive in-depth to learn a 6-task suicide first-aid model through presentations, interactive discussion, and featured videos. This course also includes extensive opportunities for skills practice through trainer facilitated workgroups.

We are able to do this in part due to the success and support we received at our Singing With The Stars fundraiser in 2023.  Our 2024 event is scheduled for October 9th at TCU Place in Saskatoon. Please check our our website for further details, www.schizophrenia.sk.ca

The actual class size will only be a maximum of 25. All ticket buyers will be notified if they have been accepted into the class.
