Class Description:
Ralph (aka Posh Gvasalia Basquiat) comes from a background of street, commercial, and contemporary dance. Drawing from these roots, this workshop encapsulates the diversity of styles that create his unique perspective. Most notable is the influence from Vogue, a dance form the Ballroom Community - founded by Black, Latinx, Trans, and Queer communities.
In collaboration with VanVogueJam, this class is meant to explore and share the parallels between Ballroom and Contemporary practice - using Ballroom categories like Vogue and Runway to find new ways of moving.

Ralph Escamillan is a dance powerhouse, working for companies/choreographers such as Company 605, Wen Wei Dance,Out Innerspace Theatre, Gil Duldulao, AJ Akamon, Luther Brown, and Kenny Ortega, as well as a graduate of the Contemporary Training Program Modus Operandi. Since 2013, he has taught professionally in a variety of dance styles, including vogue, street jazz, heels, hip hop, contemporary around the world. Becoming a truly versatile and adaptable dancer, he actively encourages others to challenge their own range of movement to create more well-rounded movers. Most notably, Ralph is the founder of the Vancouver Ballroom scene with his non-profit Van Vogue Jam, which offers free/by donation classes since 2017. He hopes to further and foster his communities, creating more accessible opportunities for those who can benefit from dance and the cultures he is apart of.
