In 2024 our 2 acre garden situated on donated land from the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre (VRIC) grew 14,000 lbs of fresh produce. Our garden team was able to harvest an additional 28,000 lbs of fruits and produce from the VRIC property. That 42,000 lbs of produce and fruit was used in our Food & Kitchen program to provide 6,993 nutritious snacks and 11,667 weekend meals for the community including hot lunches to our partner schools who have identified 45 students as food insecure. In addition, it was shared with 17 social service agencies around the Niagara Region. From June to October we operated a pop-up 'pay what you can' market helping us to promote wellness and food security in our neighbourhood and making food accessible to individuals that might not otherwise be able to afford healthier food options.
In 2025, our goal is to raise at least $10,000 to support this year’s gardening season. With these funds, we plan to expand our crop offerings, incorporating more diverse and culturally significant foods to better serve the newcomers in our community. Every harvest will directly benefit a larger number of families and individuals. Our garden thrives thanks to the generosity of both financial and in-kind donations, and we are grateful for the continued support that makes this all possible. Through our Adopt a Row sponsorship, our community help support many by providing funds that keep the garden running.
