About the Artist:
Born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, Nomathamsanqa Treatie Mkwananzi, known as Noma, discovered her love for the arts at a young age. A talented singer, dancer, actress, and composer, she began performing at age seven, with her first major role as an extra in the movie Power of One starring Morgan Freeman. Noma’s career flourished after studying performing arts and touring the UK with Zimbabwe’s top poet Albert Nyathi.
In 2015, Noma went solo under the name Nkwali, releasing her debut acapella album Sithokozile, which won a Zimbabwe Music Award (ZIMA) in 2016. Since then, she has performed worldwide, including in Austria, Germany, Tanzania, and Canada, at festivals like Afrika Tage Vienna and Kasumama.
Currently, Nkwali is on a European tour with the Mother Africa Circus and is working on a new album titled Themba. In addition to her performances, she also leads music and African dance workshops.
