Remembering Dr. Arthur Cole
For three decades, Canadian Opera Company concertmaster Marie Berard, musical polymath Rohan Gregory, National Ballet cellist Paul Widner, and pedagogue Susan Gagnon have collaborated as the Port Milford Chamber Players. This summer, they are joined by two former MPM students: Vancouver Symphony Orchestra principal violist Emilie Grimes and New York-based pianist Charlotte Hill. "Romanceros" takes its name from the subjects of Gabriella Lena Frank's musical melting pot, Leyendas. It nods to the other works of love on the program: Schubert's Quartetsatz and Schumann's Piano Trio in D Minor. The MPM season will close with Borodin's String Quartet No. 2, written for the composer’s wife on the occasion of their twentieth wedding anniversary.
