Fierce talent and award-winning artists: that's what you'll get from The Davidson/Therrien Quintet at BuckingJam Palace on January 31, 2025.  It’s BJP’s annual tradition to collaborate with the Alberta Chapter of Women Band Directors International (WBDI) to support and celebrate their vital work in educating and encouraging girls and women in jazz.  This concert features the faculty for WBDI’s Girls in Jazz Workshop:  this is a rare opportunity to hear outstanding artists from Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Edmonton and Calgary brought together for one weekend to  share their knowledge and music and inspire the next generation!  Featuring:Tara Davidson-Alto SaxophoneRachel Therrien-TrumpetMichelle Gregoire-PianoTetyana Haraschuk-DrumsAretha Tillotson-Bass

We are excited to share in the joyful experience that is to come.  BuckingJam Palace is located at 2101 8th Street, S.W. The house can be a little tricky to find the first time, so here’s the best way to get here. Put our neighbours’ address in your GPS: 916 Sydenham Road SW. We share a driveway with 916—the two houses used to be part of the same property—so park on Sydenham Road and walk up the driveway to the VERY END, where you will find our house. There will be lights along the driveway to guide you. The front door faces 8th street and you will find our friendly volunteers at that door to greet you. (There is also a pathway up to the house on the corner of Durham Avenue but we don’t use that access as the gate sticks and the path gets slippery in the winter!) Lisa’s cell phone is 403-836-0001; don’t hesitate to call if you need further directions or have questions. Please bring a pair of indoor shoes or slippers to wear if the weather is wet. You don’t need to print off your ticket—we will have you on a list at the door. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the concert starts at 7 pm sharp. The musicians will present two forty-five minute sets, with a fifteen-minute break. There is beer, wine and non-alcoholic options available for purchase, as well as artist merchandise and our famed BJP socks!If you have mobility issues, please email Lisa (lisa@buckingjampalace.com) and we will reserve a spot in the driveway for you and arrange for you to come into the house via a side door with a sturdy hand rail.
