As refugees, many of us moved to the United States with our families. Now, as proud adult children of refugees, we are thriving and giving back to our community in North Carolina. Over the past five years, our staff has grown from 3 to 11, allowing us to offer a variety of programs that serve thousands of clients from both the refugee and Montagnard communities throughout North Carolina. We have also established partnerships and collaborations that provide valuable training, including board academy training, interpretation services, professional leadership training, and opportunities for our community partners to attend conferences. At this point, we need a new home to accommodate our clients, staff, elders, and youth. We require our own office and a community wellness center where we can host all of our programs and provide a safe space for our community to engage in various activities. After renting for over 35 years, it is time for us to construct our own office building and community wellness center. This will allow us to continue our legacy and create a space for cultural preservation for future generations. Be a part of the change by supporting the work we are so passionate about! Our vision for the building includes an office and community center with a wellness facility that will address the health needs of the Montagnard community, especially focusing on mental health. This wellness facility will contribute to the improved health of Montagnard and our partner's refugee and immigrant families, potentially reducing the costs and burdens on our healthcare system. With this fundraising opportunity over the next three years, we invite you to be part of our building project to develop our Community Wellness Center. This vision is not new; it has emerged from years of dedicated needs assessments, Montagnard hypertension research, community listening sessions, and various mini-research projects conducted over the past five to ten years. Our community members have expressed a strong need for land to build a community wellness center. Again, the center will host a variety of programs focused on both physical and mental wellness, as well as activities for elders and youth, including soccer and volleyball. It will emphasize cultural preservation, provide scholarship opportunities for Montagnard youth, and offer culturally and linguistically appropriate services for our elders. Additionally, we plan to include tiny houses on the campus of the wellness center to further support our elders who are currently homeless.  Through this initiative, we aim to nurture our community, honor our heritage, and create a brighter future for our people.  We sincerely appreciate your ongoing commitment to the Montagnard Association of North Carolina, Inc.
