Betty B. Ipock graduated in 1956 from Fuquay Springs High School in Fuquay-Varina, NC.
She graduated in 1959 from the NC Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, a division of the
Wake Forest School of Medicine, located in Winston Salem, NC.
She was a Registered Nurse and enjoyed practicing all types of nursing throughout her
career. She worked in various locations including Bertie Memorial Hospital in Windsor,
NC, Dr. Thompson Clinic in Trenton, NC, and Craven Memorial Hospital in New Bern, NC as an
Emergency Room Nurse, Weyerhaeuser as an Industrial Nurse in Vanceboro, NC, Private
Duty Nursing in New Bern, NC, as a Nursing Instructor at Fountain Correctional Center in
Rocky Mount, NC, and as a Nursing Instructor at Edgecombe Community College in
Tarboro, NC.
Sadly, Betty lost her courageous battle with cancer on January 6, 1999. Known for her
compassion and intellectual curiosity throughout her life, she would be thrilled to aid
students pursuing academic success to achieve their career goals. The Betty B. Ipock
Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 2020 in her memory to help others
earn a degree in the medical field at Edgecombe Community College.
