Renovo is a small town in western Clinton County, (north-central) Pennsylvania. Around the town are murals that represent historical moments from, or glimpses of our area's rich heritage. Last year, added to that collection was the Renovo Railroad Heritage mural (commissioned by the Greater Renovo Area Heritage Park) that is located at the eastern end of town on Lingle's Market.
Recently, Local artist, and USN Veteran, Robert "Haney" Calhoun was commissioned by the Greater Renovo Area Heritage Park to design and create a 10 ft. by 10 ft. digital mural that would honor local veterans. He chose as the theme: "Flyboys of WWII" - a topic that he's been researching for several years.
This mural brings into focus the story of local veterans who served on bomber crews during WWII. They flew missions in the European, African, and Pacific theaters.
The final production will be a digital rendition of paintings, pen and ink drawings, and pencil drawings. Installation of the mural will be on the eastern wall of Tony's Hardware at the corner of 7th Street and Huron Avenue. A dedication and unveiling ceremony will be held May 28, 2023.
Donations to the mural project are welcome and appreciated.
