The Capitol City Band Association was established in 1969 to provide local musicians the opportunity to play in a concert band.

The Capitol City Band is a paid professional band that plays a free summer concert series at Rennebohm Park in Madison; drawing in diverse crowds of all ages and cultures from the greater Madison area. The VFW Post 1318 band, established in 1950 under Elmer Ziegler, is open to volunteer musicians of all backgrounds. The VFW band plays up to 20 public service concerts from September-May, primarily at assisted living and various other healthcare facilities. Additionally, the VFW band performs at services for the Dane County veterans' Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies.

Both bands within the CCBA aim to provide high quality and free performances to community members, with a focus on making the experience easily accessible and enjoyable for all.

The Capitol City Band Association is made up of 2 bands with 1 mission: to make a difference in our communities through music. We rely on the generous contributions of businesses and individuals in order to put on free concerts with the Capitol City Band and the VFW Post 1318 Band. The CCBA was established as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in 1979; contributions are tax deductible.
