Our purpose is to bring together those people interested in preserving the past through genealogical and historical records of Mitchell County Georgia but also includes surrounding counties. Knowledge of the histories of the counties and states of the United States will give us a better understanding of our ancestors and their migration to Mitchell Co. Georgia.

The organization's major function will be to discover and collect any material which may help to establish or illustrate the history of the area including its exploration and settlement and most importantly of the families who settled and developed it. 

We collect printed material including: genealogies, family histories, county histories, biographies, descriptions, gazettes, directories, newspapers, diaries, journals, family bibles, reminiscences, service records, account books, census records, marriage records, land records, photographs and any other such material that would benefit our research and historical preservation. The collection of this information is not limited to the past but includes present and future records.
