Dear 8th Grade Gifted, Arts, & Technology Magnet Parents,
We are excited to announce an inaugural overnight trip to the Pali Institute in Big Bear for
our students! This is not a mandatory trip; rather, we are offering this as an opportunity to improve our students’ leadership and STEAM skills in a beautiful environment with a successful camp program.
We are currently in the process of determining overall interest in attending this trip in December. Initially, LAUSD granted us funds to offset the cost of the trip, but those funds have been revoked. We have procured some funding to offset the total cost, but it is less than anticipated. Friends of King is committed to providing support for enrichment learning opportunities for all students, regardless of a family’s ability to pay, so Friends of King will provide some funding to close the gap left by the funding cuts.
The updated total cost of the trip, including transportation, food, and lodging, is $465 per student. Due to limited capacity at the camp, space is limited to the first 120 students who submit the Google form linked below and indicate interest, regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Every little bit you contribute helps, even if it is not the full amount. If preferred, families can also set up payment plans.
