Miami Homes For All has been strengthening the movement to end and prevent homelessness and increase safe, affordable housing for all residents. We believe everyone deserves to lead a dignified, healthy, and vibrant life - housing is at the root of that possibility.
To achieve this mission, we improve housing systems - such as public policy and financial systems - so that they produce more affordable housing, preserve what we have, and increase marginalized residents’ access. Our unique approach includes policy research, advocacy, community engagement, and partnerships with the public and private sectors to bridge system gaps.
Our Success
MHFA has been making crucial strides to solving this massive problem. Last year alone, we:
Won $8.4 million in HUD funds to address youth homelessness, in partnership with the Homeless Trust.
Recruited landlords to set aside 526 units for youth and families exiting homelessness. Placed over 150 families in permanent housing.
Committed $1.2 million and technical assistance to 10 Black developers and property owners in support of 14 small, multifamily affordable housing projects. Five projects have broken ground.
Promoted high impact, achievable solutions by hosting the Housing and Health Summit and The Housing Nexus event series.
Drafted and shared budget priorities and policy solutions with the Greater Miami Housing Alliance, which we facilitate.
Facilitated a collaborative of youth-serving organizations (HOMY) to coordinate efforts to end youth homelessness.
Provided a leadership development program for 8 youth who have experienced homelessness.
Published our updated Housing Needs Assessment in partnership with University of Florida.
Published our Affordable Housing Pipeline Analysis to understand the financial needs of housing deals that have site control today
