Hurricane Helene’s flooding devastated Western NC and our beloved town in the heart of the Hickory Nut Gorge.
It has been a blessing to see friends, family, and the body of Christ rally around with prayer and sweet support. Thank you!
To be in the middle of such a disaster brings personal pain, but also a front row seat to see God work in and through many lives.
Many of you have asked about a way to give and make a difference. Many of you have already done so through the personal connections that you have, through your time and service, or through donations to area shelters. Please keep it up.
However, many have also expressed desire to continue giving to the effort and want to do so financially due to the ever-changing nature of disaster response.
The benevolence team is creating a permanent fund at Bat Cave Baptist Church: “Bat Cave Baptist Church Disaster Relief Fund.“ This is a great opportunity to give in a way that will be helpful to needs that are immediate, short-term, and long-range.
We are working on easy modes of giving like Venmo; however, that requires many more hoops to jump through and no one in the disaster area has good internet access or easy access at one time and place to all of the relevant documents.
We have a Zeffy page now, similar to GoFundMe and which does good work for non-profits. Feel free to use that giving mechanism: https://www.zeffy.com/donation-form/883f0aff-d89a-4f20-8535-84f0bc2a8078
For now, the easiest way to give is through our normal giving page online at our church website, under the tab “resources.“
You also can text “BatCave” to 77977 to receive the giving link on your mobile phone.
The church’s mail at the Bat Cave Post Office is interrupted.
You also can send a check to Bat Cave Baptist Church, C/O Jordan Thomas, who is our assistant treasurer: 687 Crest Rd. Flat Rock, NC 28731.
Where possible, memo “Disaster Relief.”
May God bless the gift and the giver,
Dr. Nathan Sundt, Pastor
