NCCDF assists qualifying homeowners in Nelson County, Virginia, with home repairs such as roofs, septic systems and wells, deck repairs, and HVAC repairs and replacements. We also assist homeowners with modifications to their home so they can continue to live in them, such as bathroom modifications and ramps.
Nearly 40% of the housing stock in Nelson County is 30 years or older, and 20% of households make an annual income of less than $25,000. Experts recommend that a family save 1-4% yearly to put towards home repairs and replacements, but most of the above mentioned repairs can range from $5000-$15,000 in cost, which many residents cannot absorb. It is essential to keep homes viable so that our elders can age-in-place, so those with disabilities can modify according to their needs, so that families can maintain their home without falling into a debt spiral.
Our organization exists to address housing needs and provide assistance. We use HOME funds through the Regional Housing Directors Consortium and we receive other grant funds to support this work. Your donation will go 100% toward these rehabs; they help us match grant funds, and they allow us flexibility to meet some of the emergency needs of residents. Thank you for considering a donation to NCCDF!
