Asase Yaa Cultural Arts Foundation (AYCAF) was founded in 2001 by a group of traditional African diasporic artists known for their creativity which resulted in the commissioning of a new work that premiered at the Schomburg Center in Harlem, NY. Asase Yaa meaning “Mother Earth” began as the vision of brothers Kofi Osei Williams and Yao Ababio. They pooled their experiences, knowledge, community consciousness and performance skills developed throughout their childhood to start African dance and drumming workshops in the 90’s which expanded into a thriving summer camp, an art school and world renowned concert performances. Since inception, the foundation has been dedicated to promoting the importance of cultural performing arts through its core tenets of enrichment, education and entertainment. AYCAF’s mission is to empower and strengthen youth and community by offering them an opportunity to learn, study and experience the history, movement and beauty of African diasporic dance, music and culture at its highest level.
Your generous donation will go a long way in helping us continue to educate, enrich, empower, and entertain our community.
