Your generous donation will help the Early Excellence Project (EEP) carry out our mission to make running a successful center-based and home-based childcare center accessible for entrepreneurs carrying the passion to serve Black and Brown children.
We believe by aiding community entrepreneurs serving the early childhood market, we are bringing equity to under-resourced communities and creating sustainable jobs for working childcare professionals. We see ourselves as "architects of change in childcare" and will strive to design a blueprint for high quality, successful childcare centers that offer culturally sustaining learning experiences.
In Pennsylvania, 85% of eligible infants and toddlers are unserved by the publicly funded Child Care Works program, and 60% of eligible 3- and 4-year olds lack access to publicly funded pre-kindergarten programs (Smith, 2022). Additionally, inadequate access to childcare disproportionately impacts women and Black and Brown people who are often faced with the decision to work or care for their children. Lack of access to early childhood education also impacts K-5 institutions that partner with early child care sites to provide before and after-care programs for elementary school children.
Your donation will be used to aid childcare centers as they work with EEP coaches to improve quality of services offered by earning accreditation and strengthening overall business practices. The COVID19 pandemic revealed the critical role childcare centers play in supporting working families. Your donation will allow EEP to address these opportunity gaps and set children up for lifelong educational success by having access to high quality childcare programs.
