Greetings!
We are Dapper and Distinguished Gentleman (DDG), a nonprofit organization, whose initiative is to cultivate and empower young men that reside in rural, low-income areas that lack a positive influence. In 2017, DDG was founded by Deon Generette who suffered the great loss of an amazing father in 2009. From his loss and retirement from the military, our founder was compelled to share with his community what his Dad—as a pastor, patriarch and community leader—had instilled in him. It has become his life’s mission through DDG to help strengthen our communities by building up our young men.
Frederick Douglass once said, “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men!”
We solicit your help to assist in building these strong children by sowing into Dapper and Distinguished Gentlemen! DDG has worked with over 250 individual mentees & various school districts in South Carolina, such as Richland, Sumter, Florence, and Mecklenburg County of North Carolina. We have given over $7,000 in scholarships since 2017 and host many different workshops.
Every year, we gather for our annual summer camp and banquet where our mentees learn about character, conflict resolution, financial literacy, what to wear, etiquette, mock interviews, strategic planning, and vision. As we seek more mentoring opportunities for young men, we need your support.
In prior years, our sponsors have included the City of Columbia, Mayor Daniel Rickenmann, Mickle & Bass, former Mayor Steve Benjamin, Men’s Warehouse, Palmetto Mortgage, Ghost The Repo Man, TJs Elements, SNO Services, LLC and 7Sunday assisted us in making the experience more progressive by being able to leave the children with intangible and tangible gifts that serve as reminders that they are supported. We intend to do the same this year and going forward.
We solicit your sponsorship and donation for our DDG Workshops.
Our organization exists because there are young men in need of direction to become the assets to society the world needs. We ask that you assist us in continuing this work in the community, State and beyond. Our organization thrives because of our donors and sponsors like you!
