Donate to the SMPS
Founded by residents in 1975, the San Marco Preservation Society is supported largely by memberships and donations. The SMPS maintains a leadership role in the community through:
- Representation of San Marco’s interests before city government and active participation on zoning and government action issues.
- Restoration and maintenance of San Marco’s historic charm and character.
- Enhancement of area roadways, sidewalks, medians, lighting, and landscaping.
- Promotion, placement, and maintenance of public art throughout the community.
- Maintenance and refinement of the area’s parks and recreation facilities.
- Popular holiday events such as the annual Luminaria, concerts, and other social functions.
- Annual beautification awards for residents and businesses in San Marco.
- Maintenance of archival records and photographs on the history of South Jacksonville and San Marco.
- Management and upkeep of the historic San Marco Preservation Hall at Fletcher Park as a premier events venue.
- Regular newsletters and neighborhood town meetings to keep residents and business owners informed.
Your donation will be directly applied to these efforts. If you'd like for your donation to impact a particular initiative or project, please note it, and we'll direct your funds accordingly.
The San Marco Preservation Society's mission is to preserve and renew the San Marco neighborhood as an area of historical and architectural significance for the education, enjoyment, and benefit of residents, visitors, and the community at large.
