Donate to support advocacy for museum funding in Maryland

The Maryland Museums Association is a volunteer-managed alliance of institutions that collect, hold, interpret, and protect the material and cultural heritage of the Free State. We advocate for state museum funding, equity in the profession, and authentic interpretation of our shared histories in service of increased cultural understanding.

Here is what we have planned and why we need your support:

~ Essential grassroots advocacy to return funding to the Museum Assistant Program at the Maryland Historical Trust. This grant has been UNFUNDED FOR MORE THAN A DECADE. In this year's Maryland General Assembly for FY2025, MMA has worked to get a funding bill for FIVE MILLION DOLLARS introduced now we need to follow it through the process.

~ MMA received funding from Maryland Humanities to fund five scholarships to Marylanders to attend the American Association of Museums and the Assocation of African American Museums to be hosted in Baltimore this year. Additionally, MMA board members on the Local Host Committee for AAM and advocating for meaningful connections with our communities in and beyond Baltimore.

~ MMA is a voice for museums in the planning of Semiquincentennial commemorations in Maryland, specifically, we are advocating for funding, compensation, and support to our world-class historians and historic sites from the Maryland 250 Commission and others potential sources.
