The NEW AMSTERDAM MUSICAL ASSOC (NAMA) was founded in 1904 and Incorporated in 1905 as the first union for Professional Black Musicians in the United states of America. Among NAMA's membership, were great musicians such as James Reese Europe, Eubie Blake, Fletcher Henderson, Larry Lucie, Hallie Anderson and Henry Minton, to name a few.
The NAMA Founders purchased its Brownstone Building at 107 West 130th Street in Harlem , NY on June 26, 1922 and this has been the NAMA headquarters over the past 100 years. NAMA has served as a physical hub for artists to hone their skills. fellowship, and for audiences to enjoy the healing and upliftment of great LIVE Music!.
Although four major Black owned Live Music venues have closed down due the the impact of COVID 19 pandemic and other factors, NAMA is continues serving as a major resource in the Harlem Community and still offers a variety of low to no cost programs and events that keeps our heritage of Live Music Alive in Harlem.
The NAMA facility also offers rehearsal space for musicians, practice rooms, workshops and a “Little Theater” where performances and special activities are held which makes our community so special.

· This helps to ensure continued safety for artists, attending audiences and visitors, by facilitating vital repairs that are needed to immediately restore the façade above the entryway, while preserving the historic landmark artistic signatures. Increased Energy efficient Windows & Electrical Upgrades will help expand NAMA's capacity to offer more services, programs and accommodations to artists and local residents in under utilized areas of the building.. Ultimately your donations helps NAMA to sustain a vibrant history,and living legacy which is still in the making for attendees at each event!
· Expand accommodations for larger audiences, as well as students and musicians; thereby, increasing the impact of creativity, culture & arts education, as we are able to rehab various areas of NAMA’s Building on upper floors.
·This also helps NAMA to re-institute additional music lessons, programs and festivities for seniors and youth, with special emphasis on our local community at low or no cost for participants.
- Ultimately help NAMA Change & Uplift our community and the World at large, through MUSIC, ARTS & CULTURE!
