This monthly donation will help us to achieve our mission: to empower individuals re-entering into society by giving them the knowledge, tools and resources needed to reduce mass incarceration and the likelihood of recidivism.
Your ongoing monthly gift will support our programs essential to successful re-entry: our NAEYC Accredited Job Readiness Certification programming, opportunities to earn a high school education or post secondary degree.
It Takes a Village Re-Entry Program and Services provides an 8 week educational program for
the following correctional facilities: Racine Youth Correctional Facility, Racine Adult
Correctional Facility, Green Bay, Waupun, Kettle Moraine, Taycheedah Correctional Institution.
These classes are held within these facilities and participants receive a completion certificate.
Upon release from the facilities, the individuals are able to stay connected with It Takes a Village
Re-Entry Program, through assistance with housing if needed, further educational opportunities
to improve employability; employment placement assistance and transportation assistance as
needed. To ensure a lessened rate of recidivism mentoring and support circles are provided.
There are no costs to participants for any of these services.
When a justice impacted individual is released, they continue under the It takes a Village Re-
entry program Wrap-around services, through Destined to Succeed Institute and Destined to
Succeed Employment Assistance Agency. These integrated services of the ITAV Re-Entry
program provide education to fulfill the GED requirements, through an accredited school. This is
offered as an in person or online option. Your monthly gift helps cover the costs of these services.
In addition an 8 day program is available which provides further training in employment skill
sets to assist in employment placement. These include resume writing, job readiness skills,
interviewing skills, to name only a few. Destined to Succeed Employment Assistance Agency
also has the tools to connect companies with the best recruits, as well as connect applicants
with the right jobs for all of their qualifications and skill sets. This combination increases the individuals'
probabilities of job placement. Understanding that one of the main barriers to success is transportation, It Takes a Village provides a solution to that barrier through Second Chance Transportation.
The barrier of transportation is one of the main barriers to success of sustaining employment. To
overcome this barrier It Takes a Village uses the services of Second Chance Transportation to
assure, free of charge, a means to employment, appointments, medical or otherwise of the justice
impacted individual and where needed their families. Your monthly gift helps eliminate this barrier.
Another consistent barrier for those released is safe housing. It Takes a Village Re-Entry
Program monitors and searches for housing. Without appropriate housing a justice impacted
individuals is with great certainty going to find themselves on the road back to incarceration.
Housing is frequently a condition of release and the one that is the hardest to find compliance.
Your monthly gift helps provide shelter from a storm.
