Nonspeaking people, including many with autism and neuromotor speech conditions like apraxia, are finally able to express full, complex thoughts through spelled communication. At Helios, we believe communication is a human right—not a privilege reserved for those who can speak aloud. With the right training, tools, and respect, nonspeakers can develop the motor control needed to spell their thoughts letter by letter—unlocking connection, autonomy, and self-advocacy. We partner with families, caregivers, educators, and advocates to make this learning accessible to all who need it.

We also work to shift mindsets. For too long, nonspeaking individuals have been underestimated—assumed to lack understanding simply because they lack speech. But spelled communication is changing everything. Voices once dismissed are now leading a global movement for inclusion, dignity, and liberation.
