What is InfraSound?
Infrasound is a NYC based ensemble that designs experimental music experiences for people of all backgrounds, encouraging individuals to engage with experimental music through outreach performances, education, and conversation. Our in-house ensemble is made up of artists, advocates, performers, and leaders, who prioritize accessibility and allyship in New Music. Our mission as an ensemble is to amplify the works of individuals who are largely unheard through community and collaboration, redefining the promotion and presentation of experimental music to create a more sustainable future.
Our season opened with the compelling “Portals Between Worlds” concert at The LGBT Center, featuring a world premiere of Paul Novak’s Ornithology of Desire and works by Mario Diaz de Leon, Yaz Lancaster, Euna Joh, Nico Muhly, and Rajna Swaminathan. Looking ahead, we have an innovative performance-art collaboration with ChamberQUEER scheduled for February, followed by a spring season featuring fresh takes on popular songs, including the much-anticipated return of our InfraPop concert. Highlighting the summer, we eagerly anticipate the release of our first full-length album, a collaborative effort with composer and violinist Darian Donovan Thomas. Additionally, we’re excitedly preparing for an upcoming project with composer Susan Botti in the 2024-2025 season.
None of this would have been possible without the generous contribution by last year’s donors. You are the foundation that allows our ensemble to push the envelope of what it means to be an experimental music collective.
Why Support InfraSound?
We believe in advocating for artists by supporting them through paid performance opportunities. It is our goal to raise at least $6500 for this season to pay our artists fairly for their creative work.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes! As of 2022, we are officially a 501(c)(3) organization, which means all direct donations are tax-deductible to the extent of the law. We are also offering several perks if you donate at specific tiers. These perks include special edition InfraSound stickers, free tickets to concerts, special shoutouts, unique compositions written specifically for you, and more!
