This donation will help a lot to achieve our mission. We'll be able to :
Run multiple sessions of dedicated online and in-person programming of two clinically-tested programs throughout 2023: Yes, And...eXercise (improvisation) and Day One: PD Superheroes (storytelling).
Why is 2023 so important? Robert will graduate with his PhD in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences in December 2022. He has developed these offerings under the study of his mentors, committee members, and the auspices of the Institutional Review Board to assure safety, validity, and efficacy.
Details on the program are below:
Day One: PD Superheroes
All too often, people are diagnosed with Parkinson's disease (PD), handed a flyer with information and told, "we'll see you in six months". The goal of this program is to bridge that gap of fear and isolation, helping to empower those with PD and their care partners on how to better understand and take control of their narrative of what it means to live with PD. Day One is a novel and unique program that helps participants understand their relationship with PD and heroically embrace their challenges.
Yes, And...eXercise! - 12 session, 6-week curriculum:
Improvisation is an activity that engages your body and mind. A simple and elegant definition for improv is: "unplanned collaborative response." While it often elicits laughs, and it is fun, it's also much more. By playing with the same group of up to 16 participants over the course of the session, strong personal bonds are forged in addition to transformative personal discoveries.
Yes, And...eXercise! - Jam for Joy! - weekly drop-in class
In order to accommodate rapidly changing schedules, we offer this non-curriculum based improvisation session focussed on fun, community, and creativity.
We will also be able to continue our webcast, "Your Daily Dose of Dopamine".
