Every parent knows what it’s like to face a crisis, and can remember the many resources they relied on to get them through. Many families in our own community don’t have access to those same resources, and when a crisis arises, the results can be catastrophic. 

STAR House wants to change that! We provide safe, caring, and trauma informed overnight care for children of families in crisis. This lets kids be kids while giving the parents a pocket of space and time to navigate whatever they are facing. There is evidence that this kind of support decreases child abuse and neglect, increases resiliency for families, and reduces the likelihood of involuntary interventions such as child protection.
