We at Friends of Alta have made it our mission to protect and preserve Alta’s unique environment, heritage, and character since our inception over 40 years ago. We have done so through advocacy, education, coalition building, and when necessary, through litigation. With UDOT’s selection of Gondola Alternative B, we have now done all of the above.

As you may be aware, Friends of Alta, together with a coalition of individuals and organizations dedicated to finding sensible and less damaging solutions for transportation bottlenecks in Little Cottonwood Canyon, have filed a lawsuit challenging UDOT's decision to ultimately install a gondola system as its solution. Friends of Alta did not enter into this lawsuit lightly but did so because it is necessary to protect Alta and Little Cottonwood Canyon.

While Friends of Alta will take every measure to consolidate and reduce costs, the reality is that this lawsuit will be extremely costly. We are a small non-profit going up against well-funded opposition and we need your help to level the playing field. We have the best Members in the world, and we humbly ask you to donate to support our ongoing legal efforts to protect Alta and Little Cottonwood Canyon from from this undue and unnecessary threat. 

This is a fight that Alta and Little Cottonwood cannot afford to lose. Please help us protect Alta and Little Cottonwood Canyon for generations to come.
