Hello, my name is Lee Kibbee, and I am honored to have been selected to ride in the 2024 Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge. Over the course of 14 days, I will face the daunting task of conquering 62 mountain ranges, 33 Indian Reservations, 25 National Forests, 8 deserts, 6 National Parks, and 4 swamps as I journey from Florida to Alaska. I will navigate without GPS or any electronic maps and will sleep outside with my motorcycle for the entire trip.

Why take on such a challenge? There are many reasons, but one of the most significant is to raise awareness for our heroes who are suffering.

Every year, 24% of our active duty military families face food shortages. It is heart-wrenching to know that nearly a quarter of our nation’s heroes worry about where their family’s next meal will come from. The situation is even more dire for many veterans, especially those who are disabled and have very limited resources.

In response, I have partnered with Friends In Service of Heroes (FISH), a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Olathe, Kansas, for the "Fill the Pantry with FISH" Campaign. This program helps stock the food pantries on military installations in the Kansas City area, ensuring that those experiencing food insecurities are fed.

Thanks to the structure of the Zeffy platform, you can rest assured that 100% of your donation will go directly toward putting food in these pantries.

By supporting this cause, you are directly helping our active duty military families and veterans who are in desperate need. Please join me in making a tangible difference in the lives of those who have sacrificed so much for our country.

Thank you for your support!

Update July 20th

As anticipation builds for the start of the 2024 Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge I am making final preparations to head to Florida and the beginning of this grueling, cross country expedition to Alaska. I think I know what is coming and I have done everything I can to prepare for it, but at the same time I recognize I have no idea what is in store for me during this challenge.
A much better rider than myself who has completed this challenge posted these words of advice this afternoon, "For those first time unfamiliar riders let it be known it's not only a challenge, but a monumental life event and if you are not already changed by the prospect of showing up and participating you aren't prepared for what you're about to face."
The link to track all Riders has been posted on the Hoka Hey website and advises it will become active on 7/29/2024.  Here is the link: https://site.usft.com/view/Ru-fMCmcGFprPpXB-4nasMWOnjmXrX2yJPejxrXuJJTzUFI3  While you are welcome and even encouraged to use this link to follow along and track my number (1170) please remember I am not interested in knowing where I am at in the pack.  I do not want to know how many or how few people are ahead of me.
Here is a link to my personal Spotwalla Trip page which will show my location only.  It may have additional details such as some of the photographs I take along the way and where I stop for the night (if I'm not too tired to remember to upload that info!!!)  https://spotwalla.com/trip/a38d-2808df4-73bb/view
Thank you very much for your support.  The encouragement I have received from you all as I prepare for this challenge has been amazing.  I look forward to being able to tell you stories about this amazing journey.
