Jack Myers is a Mississippi LGBTQIA+ legend and activist who provided safe housing options for people living with AIDS in the 80's and has continuously provided housing opportunities for LGBTQIA+ people who were displaced for coming out as gay, or fleeing interpersonal violence or domestic violence.

The Jack Myers house will open in June 2024 with 10 beds available for housing.  The entire staff is trained on how to work with the LGBTQIA+ population, including trauma informed training, domestic violence training and wound care training.  The Jack Myers house will be the first domestic violence shelter recognized in the State of Mississippi as the primary support focus of the LBGTQIA+ population.  Jack Myers House is a safe house for any gender identity,  including nonbinary, cisgender, genderfluid, male, female, transgender, gender neutral, agender, and pangender.

Shelter clients get free safe housing, 3 meals a day, an opportunity to get their GED or return to Community College with a scholarship (laptop included), free felony expungement services, daily therapy with our counselor, a full time case management staff that helps with job placements and creates a long term plan for housing stability, and domestic violence education program with support groups.

The Jack Myers Wellness Center will open in August 2024 and will provide daily counseling services, expungement services, case management for social security card/birth certificate replacement, laundry services, hot showers and a daily snacks.  This centers programming will be fully announced after a community meeting.
