This fund is dedicated to amplifying and supporting the creative talents of the performers who will be participating in UZIMA!’s January concert. Your donation will help provide a holistic and empowering experience for our audience through performance with the goal of creating a greater sense of connection and community as we say “ASHE”.
ASHE or ASE (pronounced Ashay) is a practical word in the West African Yoruba tribe's spiritually; it has the meaning of omnipresence, i.e., immediacy. It is often translated as "So Let It Be". There is no waiting and looking around for Ashe.
ASHE: A Celebration of Voices is the title of UZIMA!’s concert at DeBartolo Performing Arts Center on January 20, 2024 which will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., through an uplifting collection of voice, music and dance from a collective of choirs, dancers and musicians throughout the Michiana community.
As a 501(c)3 non-profit arts organization, UZIMA! relies solely on the generosity of our individual and corporate supporters, grants and the small revenue we receive from performances to keep our company running. Your donation will help support UZIMA!'s mission of uniting our community in a spirit of wholeness, health and life through dance, drum and musical performance.
The members of UZIMA! are all volunteers (students, working professionals) who devote hours of their precious time to rehearsals each week because they believe in UZIMA!'s vision.
