Finding a solution to food insecurity is one of the most challenging and important projects that a neighborhood can take on. That’s why Lower Price Hill neighbors banded together to create our nonprofit organization, Your Store of the Queen City, in 2019 – with a mission empowering neighborhood-based entities to expand fresh food access and create community-based jobs by supporting the development and networking of resident-centered, culturally and economically inclusive enterprises in food desert areas of Cincinnati, OH. They knew they needed a community-centered solution to food apartheid--and planned to create Meiser's Fresh Grocery & Deli as that solution.

This annual fund will allow YSQC to continue addressing emergency hunger needs, while investing in ongoing systems change by enhancing capacity for Lower Price Hill to increase sustainability and sovereignty over food access, and creating opportunity for spread of innovative and community-based approaches to food security in any neighborhood in Cincinnati living in food apartheid. 

Kicking off the year with a goal to raise $5,000 to keep fresh, free foods available at Meiser's Fresh Grocery & Deli as the influx of Meiser's Green Giveaways members continues to increase. In the wake of growing inflation, SNAP rollbacks, and EBT freezes, we want to ensure neighbors have access to fruits, vegetables, and family meals as well as the security of weekly Cooking Club + Community Meals and Kids Snack Packs after school and on non-instructional days.
