FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT does it mean to participate in the 2nd Annual Ogden Syndrome Day 10 Around the Track Virtual Walk 'n' Roll?

It means that you pick a day between October 5th and October 15th to run, walk, ride, or roll ten laps around the track of your choice. At the start, the finish, and/or as many times as you want along the way, post your participation pics to social media with #ogdensyndromewalknroll23. You can sign up to participate by clicking the "Fundraise" button to create a team, join a team, or race as an individual.

If you are creating a team, you will have the opportunity to edit and personalize your landing page - be sure to add your story and your team's fundraising goal!

HOW is this event a fundraiser?

While payment is not required when choosing the "Fundraise" option, you will need to set a campaign goal, and donations from participants are always welcome! Once you've chosen to participate as a fundraiser, we encourage you to share with the world that you'll be taking part in this event and you'd appreciate their support.

Interested in making a donation? You can support the cause with a one-time or monthly recurring donation to the general campaign or to a specific team by clicking the Donate button.

WHO can participate?

Anyone! Everyone! You can create a team for your family member who has Ogden Syndrome and encourage your community, near and far, to join you. You can join a team that has already been created for a patient with Ogden Syndrome. You can also choose to run your race as an individual or sponsor our cause as a business! So many options!

WHERE will it take place?

That's the beauty of a virtual race - it can take place anywhere! You can run around a legitimate track in your community. You can create your own track in your neighborhood. Heck - you could even run around your block! There's no distance requirement; you just need to run in a circle ten times in the name of Ogden Syndrome Day 2023.

It's possible that if you join a team, they may decide to get together and complete their laps at a specific time and location in your community. That doesn't mean you have to run then and there; it just means that you can if you want to join the fun in person!

WHEN will it take place?

You can complete your 10 Around the Track anytime that works for you between October 5th, 2023 and October 15th, 2023!

WHY is this important? WHY are we doing this?

Ogden C.A.R.E.S. is a non-profit foundation dedicated to supporting the approximately 120 families across the globe who are living with an Ogden Syndrome diagnosis.

Ogden Syndrome is an X-linked neurodevelopmental disorder that results from mutations on the NAA10 gene. Those effected exhibit a wide range of severity, but many individuals present with global motor deficits, decreased cognition, and issues with seizures, heart arrhythmias, and impaired vision.

Currently, there is no cure for Ogden Syndrome, so there is much work to be done to get those we love the adequate care and treatment they need! We are pursuing a couple different treatment development options and for each the journey is long, complex and expensive and we will only get there with the support of our community!

Many of those afflicted may be non-verbal, but with your help, their voices will be heard!

Much Love,

The Ogden C.A.R.E.S. Leadership Team
