Bottoming for Rope:

a workshop with Anya Demure & Donna Scarlett

In person at WOW Cafe Theater in NYC + Live on Zoom

In this class, Anya Demure & Donna will discuss important bottoming skills such as body awareness, communication, and vetting. They will also touch on physical and emotional aspects of safety before, after, and during a scene. In addition to this discussion, there will be a live demo of how we can practice some of these skills.

This class is for bottoms, tops, and switches alike, as these skills are valuable for everyone.

You don't need a partner for this workshop. This will be a valuable experience for all rope bottoms, whether attending solo or with a rope partner.

This workshop welcomes people of experience levels, ranging from people curious to try being tied to experienced rope bottoms.

This workshop centers the voices, perspectives, and needs of rope bottoms (people in rope / people who get tied). If you are a rope top, you are welcome to attend, but please be aware of the space that you take up, and we invite you to attend to listen and process silently rather than speaking to the group during the workshop.

If you are a rope top/rigger, you are welcome to attend the workshop, but please be mindful of the space that rope tops often take up in rope workshop settings, and we invite you to listen and process silently rather than speak during this workshop.

If you are a rope switch (who both gets tied and ties others), you are welcome to attend the workshop and to speak from your perspective and experiences with rope bottoming, though please make note of the comment towards rope tops to the extent that it might apply to you.

About the Instructors:

Anya Demure(she/her)is a rope bondage enthusiast, teacher, and performer who is especially jazzed about beginners education! She is keen on creating and embodying interesting physical shapes, and delights in enduring physically challenging rope experiences. For her, rope bondage is endurance, sex, exercise, community, movement, art, collaboration, and mutual experience. She is also dedicated to promoting bottom-inclusive education and presentation, and fostering safe, friendly, and encouraging learning environments. She has been fortunate to teach, tie, and be tied in various communities in the US and abroad, but calls Brooklyn home.

Donna Scarlett(she/her) is a queer femme who has been active in the NYC scene since 2015. Her kinks -- from impact to rope bondage -- explore the limits of power, creativity, and endurance. In all aspects of her play, Donna is a consummate overachiever, a determined edge player, and happy little masochist with a big happy mouth. As a bondage educator, Donna works to pass on her years of experience in rope to foster community, encourage exploration, and increase accessibility. Most of all, Donna is passionate about open communication and collaborative negotiation, recognizing the vulnerability of exploration on both sides of the slash.

Zoom: The workshop will be available to stream live on Zoom. If you would like to view the workshop on Zoom, please purchase your Zoom ticket in advance, and at least 10 minutes before the workshop begins, in order to receive the Zoom link in time. If you do not receive the Zoom link, please email ropeboi@gmail.com to request the link.

Volunteers: Limited volunteer spots are available. Email ropeboi@gmail.com to volunteer to help out 1pm-3pm or 5pm-6:30pm in order to attend the workshop for free.

COVID Policies:
All in-person participants must be fully vaccinated against COVID19, unless you have a documented medical exemption.

All in-person participants must show a negative COVID test result (such as a photo of home rapid test) from the day of the event. We will have a small supply of COVID tests available for people to test at the door, but we strongly prefer that you test in advance and bring a photo of your test with you to show at the door. Masks are optional.

Please stay home if you are feeling ill or if you have had recent close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID. To change an in-person ticket to a Zoom ticket, email ropeboi@gmail.com.
