Riversweeps are two-hour community events where volunteers “sweep” the Brooklyn Bridge Esplanade from Pier 35 to Pier 17, removing trash and debris that could enter the river, hurting its water quality, impacting its accessibility, and changing its ecology. Marine debris also harms wildlife, threatens public health, and impacts the economic vitality of the communities the water surrounds–which is all of us!
