The Paxon Alumni Association Inc. 501(c)(3) was founded on August 1, 2023, by the Class of 1974. The association's mission is to support Paxon High for Advanced Studies and the community. It is a charitable and educational organization that aims to conduct a raffle in accordance with the requirements set forth in Section 849.0935 of the Florida Statutes.

As per the statute, the raffle will be conducted by Paxon Alumni Association Inc. 501(c)(3), whose principal place of business is located at 641 Reflection Cove Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218. The prize to be awarded will be funded from the raffle proceeds and the winner will receive 50% of the raffle proceeds received, minus minimal processing fees.

The winner will be selected by drawing on Saturday, June 8th, 2024, during the Banquet Event at 9:00 p.m. at Egret/Ibis Omni Resort Amelia Island. The prize will be awarded to the winner on June 14th, 2024. It should be noted that no purchase or contribution is necessary to acquire a ticket to participate in the raffle, but Paxon Alumni Association Inc. suggests a minimum donation of $20.00 to participate in the raffle or event.

A maximum of 5,000 raffle tickets will be sold, and the raffle will be conducted as per the requirements set forth in Section 849.0935 of the Florida Statutes. It should also be noted that a payment for a raffle ticket does not qualify as a charitable contribution and is not tax-deductible.

Paxon Alumni Association Inc. does not have paid staff. A volunteer Board of Directors runs the association, and a non-board member will select the winning raffle ticket in full view of the Banquet guests. All association members, friends, and family members of the organization are eligible to win.

It's worth noting that the value of the prize received by the winner in a raffle is included in the winner's gross income. If the prize is in the form of goods or services, the fair market value of the goods and/or services is includable. In the event that the sponsor of a raffle awards a raffle prize of $5,000 or more, they must withhold taxes from the raffle winner's prize. In such an event, please notify Paula Taylor Webb and Lucious T. Harris, Paxon Alumni Association Inc.
