The Makanda Project - Sunday, October 1, 2023

Event closed
Sunny skies predicted!!

We had such a great time with the Makanda Project last year that we're bringing them back!  Dr. Makanda Ken McIntyre was a was a tireless musical innovator for nearly half a century, with 12 albums and more than 350 compositions and arrangements to his credit. When he died in 2001, only about 100 of his tunes - ballads, calypsos, bebop, avant-garde and the blues - had been recorded.

The Makanda Project, a large ensemble, formed in 2005 and is dedicated to performing the previously unrecorded compositions of Makanda Ken McIntyre. The group is based in Boston, Massachusetts, (Makanda’s hometown).  We welcome them back to Brooklyn!
