Opening Reception - War Diaries: Unheard Voices of Ukrainian Children

Event closed

This poignant exhibition – which aims to shed light on the deep trauma experienced by Ukraine’s younger generation – showcases the personal stories of children and teenagers who have witnessed and documented the war in Ukraine.

War Diaries provides a platform for the unheard voices and the underrepresented perspective of Ukraine’s youth who have experienced the devastating effects of the war. It serves to foster empathy, understanding, and meaningful dialogue surrounding the emotional and psychological consequences experienced by younger generations affected by war.

The fourteen carefully selected stories – which balance gender, age, region, and story type – emphasize the vast number of narratives that remain untold. Through the visual representations of war from children’s perspectives – including audio and video interviews – visitors will be immersed in their moving stories.  An additional exhibition highlight will feature original diaries and sketches, allowing attendees to connect with the personal belongings of the children whose stories are being shared.
