Sheer Joy!

Whether you're looking to connect, have fun, or simply bask in the company of like-minded souls, BLU is your haven. The BLU retreat is an opportunity for women of African Descent to celebrate, build community and share good time with Black women who love women. That said... BLU is an inclusive space. Sistahs, Bristas, Queer Women, Lesbians, Bisexuals, Pansexuals, Omnisexuals, Femmes, Studs, Aggressives, Butches, Ladies, Theydies and Gentlebois... If you find you some part of you described above... BLU is for you!
New Location!
This year, we'll be nestled in the Angeles National Forest, at a luxury retreat venue about 90 minutes north of Los Angeles, in the Antelope Valley, near Lake Hughes.
Instead of cabins, welcome to an exclusive lodge experience, where luxury meets community. Embrace the comfort of spacious climate-controlled suites designed to accommodate 4 to 7 attendees, each equipped with its own private bathroom for utmost convenience and privacy. FAQs
We're still working out many of the details, but here are some answers to our most frequently asked questions!
- Where to fly into?
LAX and Burbank Airports are the closest airports. If you are flying into LAX plan your flights so you will arrive on Thursday, or by noon on Friday, October 11th!
- How do we get there?
If you're driving, the location is freeway close! We are in the Antelope Valley, 90 minutes north of Los Angeles...
Need a ride? Need a ride? We are still finalizing our transportation plan from the LA area for a low cost ($75 round trip) party bus option for our out of town and local folks, including a slumber party option at a local hotel on Thursday the 11th for those who can fly in early ($50)! You can pay for and save your spot now! (There will be opportunities later to sign up for transportation if you're not ready right now!)
- Will I have to sleep on a top bunk? Not at all! We'll make arrangements to ensure that those who need to stay close to the ground are able to... that said... The top bunks are easily accessible, with real ladders firmly attached to the unit! (We tested them... it's really easy to climb up, and comfortable!)
- Bedding! This retreat provides linen! No sleeping bags required!
- Why does BLU keep changing venues? I liked the space last year!
While our experience with the onsite staff at last year's venue was wonderful, we became aware of the parent organization's stance on the current crisis in Palestine. That stance is wholly misaligned with the values that BLU upholds and made it impossible for us to utilize the space and financially contribute to the organization. While this posed substantial logistical challenges for us, please know that the decision itself was not difficult at all. We are clear on our position on what is taking place, and our responsibility as global citizens. Fortunately, we were able to secure a new venue for the same weekend, and we cannot wait for you to see it!
