A Prince was born in a small kingdom in Kapilavastu this month in ancient India. He realized our sufferings are caused by our mental attachments, which are formed by our physical attachments. He proved that there is a way to be free from sufferings, attaining enlightenment. Since then, his long journey has started to share the way, the Dharma, with people drowning in the ocean of sufferings. 2500 years later in the city where Amazon and Costco were born, yet we can’t buy peace of mind. As a humble stream of the Dharma, Seattle Koyasan celebrates the Buddha’s Birthday.  🙏

We will be holding a potluck after the service. If you are planning to attend in person, please feel free to bring a contribution!  We will also live stream this event.

お釈迦様のお誕生日 4月6日（日）正午12時より米国西海岸時間当山本堂現地 & ライブストリーミング平行開催

昔々インドのカピラ城（現在ネパール）で、ひとりの王子様がお生まれになりました。長じて彼の方は、我々の物への執着が心の執着を生み、心の執着が我々を苦しみに縛りつけていることを見極められました。そして、自らがお悟りになることで、もろもろの苦しみから自由になる道があることを示されました。さとりをひらかれた後、お釈迦様は、できるかぎり多くの人々がその道、すなわち仏道に縁じ逢うことができるように、ひたすら旅を続けられました。我々は、それからおよそ２５００年後、アマゾンとコストコを産みだした街、シアトルにおりますが、全ての物が手に入るように見えて、心の安らぎだけは売っておらず、いまだ巷には執着と苦しみがあふれております。お釈迦様という大河のささやかなる一支流であるシアトル高野山が、この街の片隅にあるのは、そのためであります。皆様、お釈迦様のお誕生日を一緒にお祝いいたしましょう🙏なお花祭法要の後、ポットラックランチにいたしますので、一品お持ちいただけると助かります。
