4-Day Workshop with Goetemann Distinguished Artist/Teacher Sarah McEneaney (GAR)

Event closed

This 4-day intensive will focus on developing the independent visual voice of each student through one-on-one critiques, group discussions of work, and technical guidance. Sarah McEneaney’s work uses drawings, memory, observation, imagination, and photographs to make detailed and highly colored paintings in acrylic and collage. Students can bring work in process or develop new imagery during this time. The teacher will meet you wherever you are in this process.

Sarah’s 2023 show in New York’s Tibor De Nagy, The World Around: A Mixed Bag, included small panel paintings and drawings from McEneaney's stay at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Annaghmakerrig, Ireland. There she made only small works, as all art materials had to be brought over in her luggage due to the residency's remoteness. Also exhibited were 35 drawings depicting the Public Hearings of the United States House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack. A Spring 2024 show at Locks Gallery, Philadelphia focuses on her home and studio life in large works of acrylic and collage.

Students can expect a lively environment of experimentation and imagery drawn from a variety of sources.
