NCCC Lunch-N-Learn: Community Pumpkin Collection & Diversion

Event closed

Here is a spooky statistic: 1.3 billion pounds of pumpkins end up in the landfill each year after Halloween-- according to the US Department of Energy.

Learn how to keep pumpkins out of the landfill in your area after the Fall holidays at this Lunch-N-Learn Webinar with the NC Composting Council.  Organizers from Toward Zero Waste, Wake, Durham, New Hanover, and Pender counties will share how they collect pumpkins on a large-scale in their communities. Whether the pumpkins go to local farms or compost facilities, hear tips and tricks from these experienced panelists: Marie Davis (Coastal Composting Committee Chair/Aramark), Riley Alber (Wilmington Compost Company), Muriel Williman (City of Durham), Bianca Howard (Wake County), Kate MacLeod and Kathleen Liebowitz  (Toward Zero Waste). The webinar will conclude with a Q&A, and be posted to NCCC's YouTube Channel after the live recording.
