ACTING  WORKSHOP / SCENE STUDY - WITH DEBORAH BURKE

Ever wanted to give acting a try? Or want to brush up on your skills with scene and monologue work?  If so, this class is for you!

This class will immediately bring you into the world of character creation through monologues and scene study.  Even if you’ve never acted before, we will guide you through the basics: drawing on real human interactions, natural conversational tone, and making a scene or monologue come to life.  For seasoned actors, you'll get back on-stage, and stretch your talents. 

We have fun, but we make you stretch… to act outside of your comfort zone… as that’s the real fun of acting!  Being someone you aren’t, or someone you wouldn’t dare to be.  My job, as teacher, is to make actors think and explore how best to express character, emotion, relationships, and making it all as real as possible.

DEBORAH BURKE, TEACHER

CREATIVE DIRECTOR at Town Players of New Canaan  

Having taught this acting class for a few sessions now, the feedback has been such that many of the students return again and again.  Your teacher, Deborah Burke has been Acting locally throughout Fairfield and lower CT for 15 years, and Directed 5 major productions, both comedy and drama, along with a multitude of one-acts and monologues.  She's taken many acting classes herself, and has learned something new from each and every teacher.  She works with students to make them dig deep to find emotions, attitudes, explore relationships, create characters, develop character bios, learn the fundamentals of breaking down a script, and the reasons behind a character's movements. In addition, Deborah is a Director, Producer, Set Designer, Set Decorator, Costumer, Prop person, Faux painter.  Previously President of Town Players of New Canaan she is now Creative Director.  Deborah just recently directed “TERRA NOVA”.
