Like her personal journey across continents and cultures, her artistic process pulls from and blurs the boundaries of different mediums, often juxtaposing soft and hard, old and new. Her work is exploratory, personal and reflective. The use of objects with a previous life gives Maryam's work a nostalgic quality, while layering memories, poetry, letters and journals make them deeply personal. Maryam's artwork often reflects on inherent fragility as well as the growth opportunities of immigration and living between different cultures.  Proceeds from this auction benefit IWIN—<a href="https://www.iwiniwin.org" style="text-decoration-color:initial;user-select:auto;box-sizing:inherit" target="_blank">Iranian Women in Networking</a>, a local nonprofit dedicated to empowering women through art. IWIN creates inclusive spaces where creativity, healing, and personal growth thrive, offering expressive art workshops and community-driven projects for immigrant, refugee women, and local organizations. Your winning bid supports both the artist and a mission centered on empowerment, expression, and equity through art. Exhibit: "Fragments of Home" explores the act of constructing a sense of place, blending personal narratives, poetry, and found objects with the symbolism of the Persian rug. It reflects my Iranian heritage, the complexities of identity, and the immigrant experience, while also embracing transformation and self-discovery.
