Psychedelic Policy Reform in Nevada:

Progress, Perspectives, and Paths Forward

with Kate Cotter, ED, Nevada Coalition for Psychedelic Medicines

Are you interested in learning more about the ongoing psychedelic policy reform efforts in Nevada? Join us for an exploration of the groundbreaking legislative efforts underway to revolutionize mental health in our state.

In 2023, Nevada took a bold step forward with SB242, creating the Psychedelic Medicines Working Group to study cutting-edge policy initiatives and the therapeutic potential of psychedelics for conditions like PTSD, anxiety, depression, and addiction. This talk will discuss the group’s key findings, their recommendations for the 2025 legislative session, and a sneak peek at forthcoming legislation that could redefine the conversation around psychedelic medicine and mental health in our state.

We’ll also examine lessons learned from trailblazing states like Colorado and Oregon, the ongoing legislative efforts across the country, and the differences between the various levels of psychedelic policy reform–you’ll gain clarity on the often-confusing terrain of deprioritization, decriminalization, legalization, and regulatory frameworks. What are the trade-offs? Where does Nevada fit into the national movement? How can we ensure policies that benefit everyone?

Finally, learn how you can actively engage in the movement and help shape the future of psychedelic policy in Nevada by supporting our sister advocacy organization, Nevada Coalition for Psychedelic Medicines. Whether you’re an advocate, a curious citizen, or a policymaker, this talk is your opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the evolving psychedelic landscape in our state and learn how you can make a difference. Together, we can shape a more forward-thinking and innovative approach to mental health and well-being in our community and state.
